Prasnicki to Retire from Alumni Agencies

Published: Jan. 7, 2026

Dear VMI Alumni and Family,

After 40 years of dedicated service to VMI and the Alumni Agencies, I will retire in April. It’s hard to put into words what this remarkable institution—and the people who make it so special—have meant to me. Serving VMI’s alumni, families, and friends has been one of the greatest honors of my life.

I’ve been incredibly fortunate to spend my entire professional career advancing a mission I believe in deeply. Even more meaningful has been the privilege of working alongside an extraordinary staff, devoted volunteer leaders, and six exceptional superintendents. The memories we’ve created together, the challenges we’ve faced, and the victories we’ve celebrated will stay with me always.

There comes a moment when life gently reminds us to turn our attention toward family and loved ones. For me, that moment has arrived. While it isn’t easy to step away, I do so with complete confidence in the Alumni Agencies and the bright future ahead for VMI. This institution continues to shape leaders of character, and I’m proud to have played even a small part in that enduring legacy.

Gratefully,

David L. Prasnicki
