VMI Alumni Survey Results

Dear Alumni,

On behalf of the VMI Alumni Association, thank you for your participation in the recent alumni survey. I am both proud and appreciative of the extraordinary response from our alumni, as the participation statistics reinforce that we have some of the most engaged and supportive alumni in the country.

  • Through your efforts to register in VMI Ranks, we maintain and protect current email addresses for 85% of our living alumni. This, in itself, is significantly higher than most colleges and universities in America.
  • The survey was distributed to just over 15,000 alumni, with less than 50 failures.
  • Over 3,000—almost 20%—participated in the survey, which is approximately four times the typical participation rate for a survey of this kind.

Additionally, my thanks to Performance Enhancement Group (PEG Ltd.), our independent partner, which is the industry leader in college/university and alumni surveys, with over 350 clients and millions of alumni surveyed.

Your responses provided valuable, candid feedback that offer us insights into what we are doing right and identify areas we need to improve in our commitment to serve you. Responses ranged from the Class of 1949 to our most recent graduates, the Class of 2023. In short, every class for the past 74 years was represented, and we heard from alumni residing in every state (except Vermont) and alumni from 24 countries. Vermont alumni, we still want to hear from you! As a reminder, please update your contact information and your communication preferences in the VMI Ranks Alumni Directory.

Below, please find a quick, high-level initial participation snapshot of the survey. In the near future, we will publish more detailed results of the survey. We hope you will take a few minutes to review the background information we’ve provided below, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts when the survey results are published.

We heard your passion and love for the Institute. We will learn from your comments and, more importantly, take your feedback to heart to improve your Alumni Association.

Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any questions.

In the Bonds,

Anthony U. Moore ’78
