New Alumni Platform and Mobile App to Launch in 2026

Soon, connecting with fellow VMI alumni will be easier than ever. In early 2026, the VMI Alumni Association will launch myVMIalumni, a new online community designed exclusively for alumni.

“Think of it as social media for VMI,” said Brandon Bissell ’98, incoming VMI Alumni Association chief operating officer. “myVMIalumni gives each class and individual chapter their own space to communicate with each other, which makes it easier than ever for alumni to connect and engage with each other.”

Besides chapter and class groups, alumni can chat with anyone else logged into the platform. It will also feature an alumni map, showing alums’ general locations to make it easy to zoom in and see who’s in a specific area. myVMIalumni will also feature a news tab for quick updates from the Institute and VMI Alumni Agencies.

To enhance career networking services, the platform includes a job board so alumni can post jobs and benefit from the VMI network.

myVMIalumni will exist as a website alumni can visit through a web browser, and also as a mobile app in the Google Play or Apple App Stores. When the new platform launches, it will replace the current mobile app, VMI MobileAlum, which will sunset in March 2026.

“Our current mobile app was custom-developed for VMI,” said Bissell. “While that allowed us to make it specific to our needs, it made it more difficult to routinely update. Alumni will get to enjoy many more features from the start with myVMIalumni and will see updates far more regularly.”

The new platform will launch in early 2026, with a specific date to be announced in the coming months. Alumni can ensure they get updates on myVMIalumni by updating their email address and subscription preferences in VMI Ranks.
