The VMI Mission Endures

Please consider making a gift to VMI. You’ll join the thousands of alumni, family, and friends of the Institute whose combined efforts make VMI such a rich experience for cadets.

VMI is a place of higher learning where the entire student body is dedicated to accelerating their personal growth and building internal strength while accessing an excellent academic program. Cadets choose a freshman college experience where they can push their self-perceived limits while building lifelong bonds of friendship. Not only academic horizons are pushed in small class experiences, but lessons of honor and character are practiced daily. Students can test their mettle, challenge themselves, and practice leadership through a variety of experiences regardless of their background, race, gender, or religion.

VMI is an asset to the commonwealth and the country. And, as such, it is worth preserving and improving.

Every year, thousands of alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and friends make a gift and/or commitment to VMI. They do so because they realize the fiscal importance of private financial support to the Institute, making up a quarter of its annual budget. They do so because they believe in the importance of VMI’s mission—providing our country with honorable, purposeful, and well-educated leaders—and the need to ensure the Institute can execute that mission and give its graduates one of the very best starts in life.

The current fiscal year ends in just a couple of weeks. The VMI Alumni Agencies set ambitious fundraising goals for this year, and, thanks to the generosity of many members of the VMI family, many of them have been met. That said, the Institute’s need for private money is a consistent one because private support makes up approximately a quarter of its annual budget. In other words, without private support, the VMI education would be nowhere near as rich as it is now and, so, nowhere near as effective.

To ensure the Institute’s continued success in executing its mission, the VMI Alumni Agencies is asking as many members of the VMI family as possible to join the thousands of alumni, parents, family, faculty, and staff who already have come forward this fiscal year and make a donation in support of VMI by June 30. Giving is easy: Just go to our secure giving website and donate. If you’re more “analog” than “digital,” then please send a check to VMI Alumni Agencies; P.O. Box 932; Lexington, Virginia 24450.

No matter how you give, no matter how much you give, you’ll be helping VMI prepare cadets for professional success as it inculcates them with a commitment to honor, a sense of purpose, and a willingness to serve others.
