Following a strong week of competition, three VMI cadet-athletes—Dayton Bagwell ’27, Jack Rogers ’26, and Beau Durkin ’28—were named Northeast Conference Prime Performers for their efforts in games against Robert Morris University and Long Island University.
Bagwell earned recognition after a standout performance against Robert Morris April 4. The York, Pennsylvania, native recorded four goals for four total points while posting a career-high 19 shot attempts, including nine on goal. The outing marked his fifth game this season with at least four goals and his seventh with a hat trick.
Rogers and Durkin were honored for their roles in VMI’s 10-8 upset of co-league leader LIU April 6.
Rogers dominated at the faceoff, winning 15 of 22 attempts to tilt the possession battle in VMI’s favor en route to the win. The Suwanee, Georgia, native also picked up two ground balls and limited LIU standout Shaun Hill—one of the best faceoff specialists in the conference—to a 6-of-16 performance on faceoffs.
Durkin contributed offensively with two goals, including the game-winner late in the fourth quarter, to help secure the victory. The Castle Rock, Colorado, native also added an assist for three total points and recorded seven shot attempts.
The Keydets, now 5-6 overall and 2-3 in conference play, will continue their push for NEC Tournament contention April 18 when they host Wagner College for senior day.
