    Meade King '85 Chief Operating Officer, VMI Foundation, Inc. and Keydet Club

    The primary goal of the VMI Foundation chief operating officer is to raise and steward the funds entrusted to it for the sole purpose of advancing the Virginia Military Institute. With this private money, the VMI Foundation supports constant improvement of academic and co-curricular programs. The COO reports to the VMI Alumni Agencies CEO and also supports the president of the VMI Foundation Board of Trustees. The COO works closely with VMI leadership and across the VMI Alumni Agencies to develop and execute programs consistent with the missions of VMI and the Foundation.

    Buddy Bryan

    Buddy Bryan '71 Vice President of Special Projects

    On July 1, 2019, Warren J. “Buddy” Bryan ’71 took on a new role at the VMI Foundation. Retiring as the organization’s chief operating officer – a position he took on in 2017 after serving six months as the interim chief executive officer of the VMI Foundation – he now is responsible for maintaining relationships with key major donors, as well as managing the work of the Jackson-Hope Fund and the General J.H. Binford Peay III 1962 Endowment for Academic Excellence. Bryan began work at the VMI Foundation in May 1976 after serving for four years as a pilot in the U.S. Air Force flying the KC-135 Stratotanker. We are grateful for Buddy’s past and future service.

    Diane Brown Executive Assistant

    The executive assistant to the vice president of special projects provides administrative assistance for the Foundation’s Major Gifts program as directed by the supervisor and serves as a point of contact for alumni, staff and other constituents in a professional, courteous and helpful manner.

    Amy Reid

    Amy Reid Executive Assistant to CEO/Corporate Secretary

    The executive assistant provides assistance to the CEO of the VMI Alumni Agencies, including maintaining the CEO’s calendar, arrangements for meetings and other duties as directed by the CEO. The Corporate Secretary provides executive assistance to the VMI Foundation COO, assists with arrangements and materials for meetings, provides secretarial support for the VMI Foundation Board of Trustees and serves as primary point of contact for administrative support to the trustees.

    Terrie Conrad

    Terrie Conrad Vice President of Development & Estate Administration

    The vice president of development & estate administration plans, manages and directs efforts to attract planned gifts where appropriate for the VMI Alumni Agencies and provides training and supervision for the major gift officers of both the Foundation and Keydet Club. The vice president is responsible for the formulation of institutionally targeted fundraising goals and strategies for planned gifts, the implementation of approved fundraising plans and the monitoring of related development activities within the organization as they pertain to major and planned giving activities. The vice president reports directly to the COO.

    The director of prospect management and research will provide information to establish corporate and individual giving capacity of $25,000 or greater through extensive financial research using online databases and SEC documents.

    The executive assistant provides planned giving administrative support to the vice president of development & estate administration and the director of corporation and foundation relations.

    Joe encourages the leading support of prospects concentrated in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Virginia, and Washington.
