The chief communications officer reports to the CEO and is responsible for developing the communication plan for the VMI Alumni Agencies. The CCO has management and oversight responsibility for staff members who focus on developing print, digital and multimedia content to support the communication plan, and organizes and coordinates the design, branding, quality assurance and delivery modes of all strategic communication.

The communications officer supports the strategy for all communications, including web content, public relations messages and collateral pieces in order to articulate and promote the mission of the VMI Alumni Agencies and promote philanthropy among varied constituencies.
Joe Czekner Creative Content Manager
The creative content manager is responsible for creating high-quality marketing and communications materials in support of the VMI Alumni Agencies mission. This role will also provide photography support for the Alumni Agencies events throughout the year.
Jordan Czekner Senior Director of Publications
The senior director of publications leads the planning, development, and production of the VMI Alumni Agencies’ written communications and publications, including the quarterly VMI Alumni Review magazine. This role collaborates with colleagues throughout the organization to develop and refine engaging, thoughtful content that supports the goals of the Alumni Agencies.
Victoria Raff Digital Content Strategist
The digital content strategist is responsible for creating compelling, audience-appropriate, multi-channel content for social media, and for monitoring the VMI Alumni Agencies' social media accounts. The strategist supports all communications efforts, including video editing, website updating, and email marketing deployment and training.
Christian Heilman Senior Director of Digital Strategy
The senior director of digital strategy is responsible for creating original video and multimedia materials, as well as developing and editing web and digital content. The senior director is responsible for platform coordination and troubleshooting, to include the VMI Alumni Agencies’ primary websites, digital newsletter and other digital platforms.
Mattie Montgomery Director of Publications
The director of publications oversees the Turnouts digital newsletter and supports a range of editorial projects that connect alumni and members of the VMI family and advance engagement and fundraising efforts. This role focuses on day-to-day content development, storytelling, and cross-departmental collaboration to ensure messaging remains consistent and effective.
Mary Price Communications Officer – Features
The communications officer – features leads the creation of compelling, mission-driven written content that often supports fundraising and donor engagement efforts. In addition to crafting development-focused communications, this role contributes to the editorial success of key Alumni Agencies publications through strategic, long-form storytelling and by maintaining close working relationships with volunteer leaders.
