VMI Baseball Announces 2024 Schedule
Coming off one of the most successful seasons in recent memory, the VMI baseball team announced its 2024 schedule Jan. 9, 2024. The schedule features 25 games on the newly turfed Lamore Field at Gray-Minor Stadium, matchups with six schools from the state of Virginia and 31 games on the road.
“Really excited about the 2024 season,” said Sam Roberts ’11, second-year head coach. “We will have the opportunity to face a very high level of competition early to help prepare us for Southern Conference baseball.”
The Keydets open the 2024 campaign Feb. 16 when they visit the reigning national champion, the Louisiana State University Tigers, for a pair of games.
VMI’s first home game will be Feb. 23 as it hosts Georgetown for three games. A four-game home stand with New Jersey Institute of Technology March 1–3 is sandwiched between games at University of Virginia, James Madison University, and Radford University, followed by three games in Lexington against Binghamton University.
VMI then hosts Norfolk State University, visits University of North Carolina–Asheville March 15–17, and faces Radford before SoCon play begins at Samford University March 22–24.
The SoCon home opener will take place March 28 against Wofford College with rival, The Citadel, coming to town April 19–21. VMI will wrap up the regular season May 18 against Western Carolina University, setting its sights on the Southern Conference Baseball Tournament in Greenville, South Carolina, May 21–26.

Along with the Southern Conference, VMI officially released its 2024 football schedule Feb. 5, 2024, with the Keydets slated to kick off the season Thursday, Aug. 29, at the College of William & Mary.

The 2024 slate will consist of 12 games, with four non-conference contests and a total of six games held at Alumni Memorial Field.
After the season opener, VMI—which is coming off a strong year under the guidance of Danny Rocco, head coach—will continue its series with Bucknell University, hosting the Bison Sept. 7 before traveling down to Atlanta to face Georgia Tech Sept. 14.
A home contest against Norfolk State University precedes the bye week, with a trip to Samford University opening Southern Conference play Oct. 5.
VMI’s next home game will be the annual Military Classic of the South, as the Keydets host The Citadel Oct. 19.
