VMI athletics and VMI football officially announced the 2026 schedule.
The 2026 schedule features VMI’s first-ever “Week Zero” game, to be played at Idaho State; a visit to Blacksburg, Virginia, for the Institute’s first matchup against Virginia Tech since 1984; and non-conference matchups against Bucknell University and at Davidson College before opening Southern Conference play.
VMI will have a total of five home games in 2026, four of which will come against SoCon opponents. The Keydets will also face a new conference foe for the first time, visiting Tennessee Tech Nov. 7, before hosting The Citadel for the annual Military Classic of the South Nov. 14.
