The VMI co-ed rifle team won big on the road against the Georgia Southern Eagles at the Shooting Sport Education Center in Statesboro, Georgia.
The VMI co-ed team placed first with 4506 total aggregate points, Georgia Southern placed second with 4448 aggregate points, and the VMI women’s rifle team earned a third-place finish with 4350 aggregate points.
Freshman Alexander Allison led the Keydets with a second-place finish among top individuals with a 1135 aggregate total. Seniors Hunter Jacob (1133) and Kelia Aardema (1119) earned a third and fourth-place finish, with senior Nick Reynolds (1119) and sophomore Samantha Reid (1117) finishing fifth and sixth, respectively, to represent VMI among the top 10 individuals.
In smallbore competition, Alexander Allison (566), Hunter Jacob (563), Nick Reynolds (558), and Kelia Aardema (556) earned a second through fifth place finish, respectively. Samantha Reid (549) and Simon Krauthamer (545) placed sixth and seventh, and Claire Lee (533) placed 10th to round out the top 10. Savanah Diamond (13th), Jessica Hankin (14th) and Cassidy Dufour (15th) all represented VMI in the smallbore match.
For the air rifle competition, Hunter Jacob placed second among individuals with 570 points, with Alexander Allison and Samantha Reid placing third and fourth with 569 and 568 points. Kelia Aardema (563) and Nick Reynolds (561) place sixth and seventh, with James Doucett earning 558 points to finish 10th. Lauren Dost (11th), Jessica Hankin (12th), Claire Lee (13th) and Savanah Diamond (15th) all represented VMI in the air rifle standings.
