Rifle Closes Out Fall Slate with Win Over Wofford, John Jay

The VMI rifle team closed out its fall competition at Kilbourne Hall, scoring victories over Wofford College and John Jay College Dec. 2, 2023.

Christopher Hicks ’24 had the top individual score of the day, shooting a smallbore-best 571 to go with a 580 in the air rifle (1151). Ryan Harlow ’25 was just behind Hicks in the individual standings, finishing second in the smallbore (567) and posting a 1138 aggregate.

Victoria Phillips ’25, who has been strong all season, led all competitors with a 586 in the air rifle. Laini Morgan ’25 fared well in the air rifle, shooting a 581 to place third in that event.

The Keydets, as a team, had seven of the top 10 individual scorers, with Phillips ranking third overall.
