VMI Alumnae Celebrate a Pioneer in VMI History

Register Now Attendee List

Long before the first women marched into barracks at VMI in 1997, Carole Green was helping prepare the way.

A devoted member of the VMI family for decades, Carole’s connection to the Institute began as a Ring Figure date for Brig. Gen. Robert “Bob” Green ’67 and continued through years of dedicated service. She served on the Assimilation Committee, where she played a pivotal role in helping VMI welcome its first female cadets while preserving the character that defines the Institute. Later, as vice president of alumni activities for 15 years, she strengthened bonds across the Corps and the alumni network. When skeptics questioned whether women could meet VMI’s physical standards, Carole answered in true VMI fashion—by taking the VMI fitness test herself and completing 21 pull-ups.

Because of leaders like Carole Green, the women of VMI were not only admitted—they were also set up to succeed.

We invite cadets, alumni, and the entire VMI family to join us in honoring Carole Green: A champion of the women of VMI and a lasting part of our shared history. Come celebrate the legacy she helped build and the generations who continue to carry it forward.

After an engaging conversation, we invite you to stay and continue the conversation during our networking session. This is your opportunity to connect more personally with fellow attendees and build meaningful relationships in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
