Southern California Chapters Rat Send-Off
Rat send-offs are a cherished tradition hosted by alumni chapters to welcome and celebrate local incoming rats as they prepare to matriculate at the Institute.
Matthew Hemenez ’90, our 2024–26 Alumni Association Board of Directors president, will host a rat send-off at his home in Lake Forest, California, Aug. 9, 2025. Any incoming cadets and their families, as well as alumni and their families from California, Arizona, and Nevada, are welcome to attend.

10-minute history of VMI, Q&A for incoming rats, awards for oldest and youngest alum in attendance, and a raffle.

$15 per person
No charge for incoming cadets and two parents/guests.
