Baseball Season Opens with Victory

VMI baseball got its 2022 season off to a strong start last month, defeating No. 23-ranked Duke University in its season opener Feb. 18. It was the first win over a ranked team since 2018. Other notable wins for the Keydets included a three-game sweep of visiting Lafayette College Feb. 25-27.

As of March 7, the team’s record is 6-5.

For his efforts on the mound, Tyler Bradt ’23, red-shirt sophomore, was named the Southern Conference Pitcher of the Week Feb. 28, his second straight week taking home the award. Bradt worked seven strong innings against Lafayette, allowing just four hits, no earned runs, and two walks with six strikeouts to pick up his second win of the season.
