2024 VMI Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive Reunion

On Jan. 26–27, 2024, the VMI Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive Reunion brought together alumni from a range of classes to engage with connections new and old, including current cadet-athletes, and receive an overview of today’s swim and dive program.—Photos by VMI Alumni Agencies.

A range of alumni from the Classes of 1962–2020 returned to post for the VMI Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive Reunion Jan. 26–27, 2024.

These 45 alumni reconnected with the program, met current swim and dive cadet-athletes, and received a special tour of the new Aquatic Center.

The weekend began with a dinner and reception in the Moody Hall Activities Room, where Scott Thacker, swim and dive head coach, updated alumni on the state of the swimming program and his vision moving forward. The next day began with a tour of VMI’s state-of-the-art Aquatic Center that dazzled these former cadet-athletes and undoubtedly made a few wish they had gotten to compete in such a facility during their time on post. The weekend culminated with watching the swim and dive meet versus Washington and Lee that afternoon.

“It was great hosting some of our swim and dive alumni back on post,” said Andrew Deal ’12, VMI Keydet Club chief operating officer and Alumni Agencies chief development officer. “It was awesome to see our current swim and dive cadet-athletes and coaching staff connecting with alumni and sharing their stories and network. Our goal as the Keydet Club is to focus on engaging our former cadet-athletes and encouraging them to get behind their programs, and it was rewarding to see the shared connections among these alumni and the energy they brought to our program and current cadet-athletes.”
