Legacy Day
The VMI Alumni Association is holding the 16th Annual Legacy Day on March 27, 2010. As in years past, this event will give the families of VMI alumni a chance to share rekindled memories from the past and pass them on to the generations to come.
Registration is from 9:00am-10:00am, and during that time the legacies will be allowed to "Try on VMI" by taking pictures with actual VMI uniforms. Many of the prominent members of the Corps of Cadets including high-ranking cadets and cadet-athletes will be in attendance for pictures and conversation. Following giveaways and an address by our guest speaker, legacies will participate in the Legacy Parade in which all legacies get to march in a parade led by a group of cadets. All attendees will then take a group photo in front of the Parapet with alumni performing a recitation of the Inscription on the Parapet from memory. For any of you alumni planning to come for Legacy Day, now is the time to start practicing! Following the parade and photos a tour of Barracks and the Visitors Center will take place. Visitors will then be allowed to visit the VMI Bookstore and the VMI museum before heading to lunch in Crozet Hall around noon. Families are then on their own to visit VMI and the town of Lexington, but at 2:00pm all families are encouraged to come support the VMI baseball team as it competes against the Charleston Southern Buccaneers in the new Gray-Minor Stadium.
We encourage children between the ages of five and fourteen to attend; however, we would love for any children younger than five to also attend in the company of an adult. We hope that you will come share this special day with us, and we look forward to spending a great spring day reliving the cherished memories with VMI alumni!
