Legacy Day
The VMI Alumni Association held the 15th Annual Legacy Day on March 28, 2009. As in years past, this event gave the families of VMI alumni a chance to share rekindled memories from the past and pass them on to the generations to come. Legacy Day this year drew over 180 attendees, and gave each person a chance to tour the newest buildings on Post: The Center for Leadership and Ethics, and the Third Barracks. Legacies participated in the Legacy Parade, and all attendees took a group photo in front of the Parapet with alumni performing a recitation of the Inscription on the Parapet from memory. Following the photos, a tour of the newly completed Third Barracks and Visitors Center was conducted as well as attendees watching VMI's engineering department defeat Virginia Tech in the trebuchet launch. Following lunch in Crozet Hall, alumni and families were able to visit the VMI Museum, the Marshall Museum, the VMI Bookstore, and legacies will be able to “Try on VMI” with different types of uniforms and hats for great pictures and laughs.
